Session 2007/2008/2009

  • Paul Seever
  • Gary Edwards
  • Louise Pollard
  • Michael Christie
  • Betty Gangware

Session:    The session is responsible for the mission and governance of the church and is comprised of the pastor and 7 active elders. It has the responsibility for many and various duties, including receiving members, providing for worship and nurture of the membership, relationships with governing bodies in the denomination and beyond to ecumenical and global relationships. The session is charged with leading the congregation in ministries of personal and social healing and reconciliation, and to lead the congregation to continually discover what God is doing in the world and to plan for change, renewal and reformation under the Word of God. The elders are elected for a period of three years and may serve for no more than six consecutive years in order that power is not invested in any one person or group of people. The election of the elders by the congregation is done on a staggered basis so that there is continuity in leadership as well. The government of the Presbyterian Church requires that there be diversity in the leadership of the church, so that all of God’s people are represented on session. Elders of the church are “persons of good repute, full of Spirit and of wisdom” (Acts 6:3). They are people who are esteemed by the community and deeply and sincerely spiritual, and practical in judgment. They are also team players. Each session member of Trinity serves as a liaison to one of the committees of church: Administration, Nurture, Outreach, Spiritual Enrichment, and Trinity Learning Center.
