  • Elizabeth will preach the next morning, Sunday, October 26, at Trinity’s 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Who is it for?

  • Individuals facing end-of-life challenges.

  • Families supporting a terminally ill loved one.

  • Anyone interested in preparing now for life's inevitable transitions

About the book:

The Last Things We Talk About: Your Guide to End of Life Transitions'' by Elizabeth T. Boatwright is a comprehensive guide for individuals and families to navigate the complexities of aging, end-of-life care, and death. The book provides step-by-step instructions and resources to help readers define their values, plan for medical, financial, and legal matters, and prepare for the practicalities of death and the grieving process.

Key Aspects of the Book

  • Personal Values and Wishes:

The book helps readers identify what gives life meaning and purpose, allowing them to define and celebrate their cherished people and experiences.

  • Practical Planning:

It guides readers through the process of creating essential documents, such as legal, financial, and medical forms, and understanding the continuum of care.

  • Legacy and Aftermath:

Readers learn how to plan for the legacy they wish to leave behind and what needs to be done after death to help survivors.

  • Cultural and Spiritual Sensitivity:

The book explores options for culturally and spiritually sensitive end-of-life rituals and celebrations.

  • Resources and Tools:

It includes checklists for tasks like choosing a hospice facility, putting affairs in order, and deciphering medical bills, along with information on finding relevant professionals.

  • "White Book" Concept: Boatwright introduces the idea of a "white book," a binder or digital file containing all necessary information for family members to avoid a "treasure hunt" after a death

Service Sunday 2025 draft_edited.jpg

Service Worship Sunday and Lunch

It is time for Trinity Church's annual "Service Sunday Worship," when Trinity folks and our surrounding neighbors choose an hour-long service project to do together, and then regroup at the church for food and socializing!

Service projects include carpooling to a nearby senior living facility to sing, walking the neighborhood to pick up trash, cleaning the inside and outside of the "Shower the People" trailer, and two new projects describe below.

Join us in the Church at 10:30 am, where we will have music, a welcome and prayer from Pastor Diane, and some instructions before breaking into groups.

Clean-up our Church Neighborhood. This group will divide into two-person teams with map assignments to pick up trash around Branciforte Neighborhood, hopefully inspiring others to care for our area. Bring gloves, hat, water, & bucket to collect trash. Pass on cheerful greetings to neighbors & describe our Service Sunday Worship.

Two New Service Projects:

Signs of Resistance and Hope

Gather in the Youth Room to create a sign of encouragement in these troubling times. Blank yard signs and art supplies will be provided. Each person will take their sign home with them.

Postcard Writing Workshop

Meet in the Fireside Room to write postcards to voters in swing districts encouraging them to register and vote for a candidate who will support critical issues such as funding Medicaid and protecting voting rights.

This part of a national postcard campaign to encourage our fellow citizens to vote. A hand written note from a real person is more meaningful than an automated email. Every vote matters!

The next for the postcards and the issues addressed will not be known until a few days before our Service Sunday . We will be writing the same text.

All supplies, including postage, and explicit instructions will be provided.

Santa Cruz al Salvador Fundraising Luncheon

On Sunday, September 7, Trinity will hold a Luncheon Fundraiser in support of their mission to El Salvador.  A good time is guaranteed and all are welcome!

What we do in El Salvador. Trinity is a member of Santa Cruz al Salvador, a coalition of churches in Santa Cruz County that has sent annual delegations to El Salvador for over thirty years.  Another delegation is planned for late November.  We have funded the digging of wells, built compostable latrines, and supported school children and college students in two underserved communities.  Currently, our work centers on scholarships for college students, sponsoring and motivating school children, and working on partnering with a local charity group to install water directly into homes that do not have that luxury.  This year’s mission to El Salvador is in late November.

And the food! Featuring pupusas! For those of you who are not familiar, pupusas are thick tortillas stuffed with savory fillings such as cheese, or pork and are typically served with curtido, a tangy pickled cabbage slaw, and a mild salsa.  Pupusas have a long history in El Salvador and were declared a national dish in 2005.

What to expect: The luncheon will begin after the Sunday 10:30-11:30 a.m. worship service. It will include a brief slide show by Chuck Cobery, who has participated for ten years in this mission.  We will be entertained by Trinity’s own home-grown a cappella group, the PresbyTones, and a few other musical surprises.

Where do your donations go? The luncheon is free of charge, however a minimum $20.00 donation would be greatly appreciated. One hundred percent of the donations will go to Santa Cruz al Salavador for scholarships and water projects.
